More updates on cats and life

A few people have asked me for updates on the things I wrote about in my last 2 blog posts, so here they are! If you haven't read those yet, go do that, otherwise you'll have no idea what I'm talking about here.

First post | Second post

First of all, I made around $500 between Bandcamp sales and ko-fi donations from the initial post, and I am so, so grateful. It means so much to me that people wanted to help out with Arlo and Alex's care. Thank you all so much!

Unfortunately, we had another surprise expense. I'm not going to ask for money again (see the "life has been unkind lately" post for my Bandcamp and ko-fi links if you feel so inclined). But god, when it rains it pours!

Our resident cat, Ramona, decided she wanted to be part of the expensive medical problems club and started acting weird last week. It turned out to be a UTI. Her kidney values were elevated too, so please cross your fingers for us that it was just from the UTI and isn't chronic kidney disease. The good news is that she's acting like herself again now that we're treating the UTI. We'll be getting her and Arlo both rechecked in a few weeks (yay, more expenses!).

Little Ramona

I also found out that my day job, which is at a college, doesn't have any work available for me between semesters this time, so I have a surprise month off work. Yay! But it's unpaid. Boo!

Those are the two main money woes right now. But now I'm going to write about the good things happening in my life, because I've been so stressed, and focusing on the positives always really helps me. I guess it's a gratitude practice of sorts.

Arlo is doing really well! He's the sweetest boy. He loves snuggling, aggressively rubbing his face on people's chins, batting around toy balls, chicken squeeze-ups, and trying to sprint out of the room whenever we open the door (😑). Despite all the expenses and stress, I'm beyond happy that we were able to take him in and save his life. It's been so wonderful having him around.

Mr. Arlo

Alex is completely better now, and we are now equipped with knowledge and medicine if his health issues ever pop up again. It's a huge relief!

There's a showcase I want to submit Divinuet to, but I need to make a new demo to do so. The submission deadline is in a couple months, and I think it'll be very doable for me to get a demo done by then. My ADHD brain loves a hard deadline, and I'm excited to have such a clear goal to work toward. And I conveniently don't have to do my day job for a month! The timing worked out really nicely.

My birthday is in 2 days (May 14th). I am extremely not chill about my birthday! It's one of my favorite days of the year! I'm not afraid to admit that I love getting presents and attention! Also I'm turning 36, but I've already been thinking that I'm 36 basically since the beginning of the year, so I'm excited to be correct about my age again.

I saw The Sheep Detectives a few days ago, and it was excellent. It was very goofy, which I was expecting. But it also turned out to be a really beautiful story about love and grief that made me cry a lot!

And finally, I was interviewed for a really cool podcast yesterday. More info on that to come soon.

Thanks again to everyone who has sent words of support and/or monetary support during these tough times. It really helped to ease the burden so much, and I am very grateful.
